| Did Villa get the better deal in Milner-Ireland switch? |
|
August 20th, 2010 at 12:04 pm by Robin Woolley
No, before you ask, you have read the title of this post correctly! Some idiot (i.e me) does actually believe that Stephen Ireland will turn out to be a more influential player for Aston Villa than James Milner will be for Man City. On the face of it, I agree this sounds ludicrious. How will one [...] |

|
June 22nd, 2010 at 10:37 am by Wally Downes
Are we really that comfortable winning anything for that matter? It sounds a ridiculous question, I know, but it is one that has plagued me throughout this World Cup and is at the forefront of my mind now Wimbledon is upon us. |

Chile La Roja qualified automatically in the South American group with a team sheet straight out of a Sergio Leone flick. Bravo, Ponce, Estarda, Fernandez, Sanchez, Gonzalaz. They shot down the Argies en route so will be getting cheered on by me. They should spice it up a bit in the Chilly South African winter [...] |

Brazil Dunga has made joint faves less The Boys from Brazil and more The Bore-offs from Brazil. Out goes the swash-buckling Cafu, Carlos & Ronaldinho and in comes the strength of Maicon, Melo & Fabiano. The Samba has become steel and it will be hard to break down. Saying that, they only beat our B-team [...] |

Australia The Ozzies are in the mix again and I’d rather we avoid them early doors. They did well in the last World Cup (a Totti last minute Pen knocking them out) & can turn it on if they stay off the Castlemaine but an ageing squad is a worry. They would love a win against us to make up for their Ashes defeat but sorry Bruce, when it comes to big round balls, we’re the crocs boll*cks mate! |

Every football fan has their own World Cup. The one they remember most fondly and still look back with a feeling of pure footballing nostalgia. For me, my earliest football memories full stop are of a World Cup, and the show piece of Italia 1990. Yes I know in hindsight 1990 is seen as a dull [...] |

| How many red balloons? |
|
October 20th, 2009 at 6:00 am by
99 red balloons floating up into the sky, panic bells it’s red alert. While the stadium of light had 98 fewer than an eighties pop classic once spoke of on Saturday, the one massive beach ball-shaped troublemaker in the Liverpool goalmouth certainly gave cause for the panic bells to ring again on the red half of merseyside. |
