11 transfers that shook the world
March 20th 2010 by Mystical Mike

This week’s Ultimate 11’s is transfers that shook the world. Who can remember David Jack’s controversial £10,890 move from Bolton to Arsenal back in 1928? Not even Mickey Marbles remembers that one! Or how about the rather unfortunate Gianluigi Lentini who signed for AC Milan in a world record fee of £13m, only to be involved in a serious car crash a year after signing, the extent of the injuries he received were a fractured skull and damaged eye socket and he spent approximately 2 days in a light coma.

With the Mancs from the blue side of Manchester re-writing the transfer system and FIFA having a good old moan, will Ronaldo’s £80m fee be the last of the big spenders?

Do you really know your clubs proud history or are you just a teenage glory hunter? (not mentioning any names from the Kings Road & Eastlands). Remember you must pick a decent 11, not 10 forwards and a goalie. We’ll have a butchers and I’ll give my verdict from Mustard to Pony. E-mail your team to Dexy@ukfootballfinder.co.uk

that Warney Creswell was a cracking little player

I would change loads of these, not many are shockers. Cantona to Mancs was a shock cos it was done so quickly as was Andy Cole, especially considering Leeds & Newcastle were top 4 teams at the time. Imagine Drogna going to Manchester now, it wouldn’t happen. Then there are the Celtic Rangers transfers. Mo Johnstone, the daddy of them all.

£3 mil for Maradona. Even if it was 27 years ago that seems like such a steal for the greatest player ever. Sol to Arsenal – fairly shocking at the time. Robinho to City – less shocking now they’ve started hoovering up stars left right and centre but at the time definitely a surprise, possibly even for him. Ossie and Ricky to Spurs – pioneers the both of them. Apparently Ossie shat in his previous coaches boots. Not sure if that hastened his departure from Argentina or not but it’s great comedy nonetheless.

Oh and Gazza took a dump in Gattuso’s boots while he was at Rangers.
