Surprisingly enough, Manchester Cities mercenary, sorry forward Emmanuel Adebayor is currently the Premier League highest played player with a salary of well over £7.4million, I make that just under £7million per goal!

Will somebody, be it a lone voice in the wilderness, bravely swallowing their pride, please raise their hand and answer me this question, and don’t all rush at once.

So the latest instalment of this car crash of a footballing soap opera has come to pass. Working in the same building as Stan Collymore has its ups and downs. Fines alone are rarely an apt form of punishment, especially in industries that promise significant financial rewards in return for success (or, in the Premier League’s case, survival). The Premier League, however, saw fit to simply fine Wolverhampton Wanderers for unsporting conduct (with respect to their fielding of a severely weakened team against Manchester United in December in order to rest players for a vital match against Burnley later that week) in the same way that they decided that West Ham United should face a fine alone for their misleading over the registration of Carlos Tevez.
