After Jermaine Pennant came out from his Spanish Villa and criticised Benetiz for miss-management of players, it felt like the final nail in the coffin for the Spanish manager.

Known as ‘Fla-Flu’ this is Brazil’s most passionate rivalry, dating back to 1911 when 9 Fluminense players quit the club to form Flamengo, which at the time was just a rowing club, any one for Pimms old boy? The clubs have been rivals ever since.

This weeks lovely girl of the week is birthday girl Debbie Lee Charlton (20 today), just to confuse matters she’s not actually a Charlton fan although they are actually her local team. She does have very beautiful green eyes though.

It was with some sadness I heard that Gareth Southgate had been sacked yesterday. I always felt he had the making of a decent manager. I suppose in these days of quick fix changes and changing managers when a few results go wrong, none of us should be surprised.
