Chelsea to win the league, no doubt about it.

Well they have got cash burning a hole in their pocket. And time’s ticking away to rebuild for next season. Scholes? Giggs? Lots of players that need replacing long-term.

But anyway, back to Liverpool. I think the Glen Johnson signing is a good one but we need another striker and maybe a left winger. We also need strengh in depth in the squad but we simply don’t have the money to do that.

I think the money we do have might be best being invested in scouting and youth development. The days when we used to pick up Scotland’s best for close to no money are long gone but I bet there are still some great young players around the UK and Europe that can be brought in and cultivated. Look at Welbeck and Macheda! Liverpool did make it to the FA Youth Cup Final but were totally outclassed and the players that come through don’t make the grade anymore.

Signing David Silva would probably be enough. Only thing is, they won’t. I would dearly love Liverpool to get their record back but I think it’ll be taken by United outright. Valencia’s not that great a signing but there’ll be more to come.

For Liverpool? They need to sell before they can buy another player so if they manage to get second that would be an achievement. Depressing.

the only way Chelsea will win the league is by boring everyone to death, with an Italian in charge the emaphsis will be on defence, defence & defence!

How many times did Masher and Alonso actually play in the same team?
I also think Yossi will play a bigger part this year, he was on fire in the last few months.

I agree, if Liverpool loose Alonso or Maschereno then they have little chance of winning. I reckon they will loose one of them to Real Madrid most likely, and that’s why Chelsea will win the league next season

Agree that if Liverpool keep their first XI fit for 75% of the season they are in with a massive shout. they need a reliable backup striker and right winger, though, cos if two of Torres, Gerrard and Kuyt are injured, they could struggle to score goals. Babel had a bad season, so he might be able to do the business

I reckon they’ll buy though. Have a sneaky suspicion that the title will go to the team that makes the best massive signing. If Liverpool get David Silva then it could well be their year. If Man Utd or Arsenal (ha! in my dreams) get Karim Benzema, that’ll be interesting. If Man City get Eto’o they will be a handful. God knows what Chelsea will do.

Of course all this assumes no more big departures, which could change everything.

i can tbelieve your all backing my team the scousers, afer all the slating you lot have given me this year, have to agree some what, need another striker, goto keep spine of the team, then who knows, if we do win, fingers and everything else crossed, ill by you a pint????

only problem being Hughes is a mid table manager, I can’t see them winning anything with him in charge, he has as much charisma as a 2nd hand toilet roll!
