It is with great sadness that The Den has just learn’t that Bobby Robson has died after his long fight with illness.

Here is a brief look at Sir Bobby’s career.

Born in 1933 in County Durham, he started out at Fulham in 1950 before moving to West Brom 6 years later, he then returned to Craven Cottage in 1962 and a short spell in Canada for the Vancouver Royals at the end of his career.

For all the transfer talk this summer, two pieces of business have really caught my eye. Firstly, Glenn Johnson to Liverpool, and secondly Peter Crouch to Tottenham. Both players moved from the South Coast overachievers Portsmouth, leaving the boys from Fratton Park dangerously thin on first team players.

In a summer that has already seen Real Madrid spend close to £150 million on just two players and Manchester City offer crazy wages to the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roque Santa Cruz, it would be hard to believe things could get anymore ridiculous. But then this past weekend the summer spending hit another level on the silly richter scale as two of Europe’s top clubs traded their top strikers. Swedish maverick Zlatan Ibrahimovic became the latest star attraction in La Liga by joining Barcelona, while Samuel Eto’o headed the other way to join Inter Milan. The catch? Not only did Inter get one of Europe’s premiere strikers, they also received the best part of €45 million plus ex Arsenal star Alexander Hleb on loan for the season. Question is who at Barcelona really thought the Catalan’s were getting a good deal here, when through everyone else eyes it looks like the Italians’ are laughing all the way back to the San Siro.

I’ll make no bones about it, I’m an Arsenal fan and although I’m sad to see a good player leave in Emmanuel Adebayor, I’m delighted to be getting rid of a guy who just can’t work out why he’s not liked.

There are many things I could write about last night’s party… In fact I could go on for hours with stories of Peter Pickles buying really bizarre cocktails, how I was robbed by the toilet attendant, our attempt to find a kebab shops in Mayfair, or even how a couple of us had a debate about how Darren keeps his head so shiny.

The lovely Brandy Brewer was sensationally crowned Miss UK Football Finder 2009 last night with a devastating performance on the catwalk. For those of you who were lucky enough to get in would have witnessed the best catwalk show of the year. All 8 finalists looked stunning as they wowed the crowd with their moves.

All the way from across the pond this week’s lovely young lady is Madison. Mads is proud to represent the American teams on UKFF she waves a big “Hello” to all her English friends! She looks froward to the days when she is making her living from modelling and is working hard toward her dream. She hopes to be Victoria Secrets girl.
