A quick look at last nights shambles…or was it? Let’s get the Becks road show out of the way first. 100 caps, well done commendable, can we forget about it now, all it’s been in the red top tabloids in last 3 internationals is Becks this becks that, (no change there then). Your display last night, was average at best. |

| Rio captains England |

Rio is just Fab! So Fabio has just named Rio Ferdinand as the captain of England for the game against France. Whether this means that he is now Capello’s full time captain no-one knows, but I for one hope he is. Once again the Italian has made a correct decision. For me, Rio is the only choice for this vital role. If you look at the England team, there are only 3 players, or maybe 4 if you count Joe Cole, who should be guaranteed a starting place if fit. These are Steven Gerrard, Rio Ferdinand and Wayne Rooney. |

Teflons weekly rant If you watched the whole of ‘Grand Slam Sunday’ on your couch with a beer you obviously have no life, or your Sunday League game was cancelled because a snowflake fell and it is now officially ‘Hazardous’ to play in snow because you might get a little chilly. So being left all alone for the weekend as the wife took a long trek north to see her family over Easter, I took the Mans approach of staying at home with beer and football (and my Dog) because my Sunday league game was cancelled, again. |
| Ronaldo in a class of his own? |

Ronaldo needs to be playing in La Liga Cristiano Ronaldo’s headed goal against Liverpool this weekend was his 34th of the season and his 25th in the league. He has managed to score against every team in the premiership apart from Manchester City, against whom he was suspended, Chelsea and Middlesbrough. He faces the latter two teams in the season run-in. |
| Give Beckham his 100th cap then move on |

Lets end this media circus for good So the David Beckham road show takes it’s final drive. There is no denying Sir David of Beckenham Palace has been an inspiration to us all, a perfect roll model, a perfect dad, blah blah blah, we know this already. Lets just give him his 100th cap and move on, a 10 minute cameo would suffice, there is no room for sentiment. |

Aston Villa v Sunderland Villa could do with a scrappy doo win, anything but 3 points will do. The Black Cats are almost as bad as Trumpton & Derby on the road, I can’t see anything but a Villa revival here. Prediction 4-1 |

The Prawns have stolen our game Watching a football game has never been harder in my opinion, this morning Arsenal Vs Reading tickets went on sale to Red members, which I shall state, now is the lowest membership level for the Arsenal football team. The Membership scheme is as follows, Platinum (Corporate), Gold (Season Ticket Holders), Silver (First Sale) and Red (left overs). |

Is this the end for Boy Wonder? Like my sex life, it’s been a while but I’m back this week to run over the question on every Englishman’s lips, no, not when will Dexy finally get a shag or will Becks get his 100th cap, but the issue according to St Michael. With the 3 Lions facing 11 frogs next week, will Fabio again ignore Owen and leave him on the bench in gay Paris? Michael Owen, the one time boy wonder is now 28, it is almost 10 years since he scored “that” goal against the Argies. Back then, he had the world at his lightning feet but has he fulfilled his full potential since? I think not and I fear Owen may be thinking the same. |

Why the Gunners have lost their bottle This weekend saw the title race take yet another turn in Manchester United and, indeed, Chelsea’s direction. Another stumble by Arsenal has seen them overtaken by United, while Chelsea are now within striking distance. There is an air of inevitability to it all at the moment with the most worrying thing for Arsene Wenger being that the problems appear to be different to the accusations normally leveled at Arsenal. In the last few games, against Villa, Boro and Wigan, Arsenal did not spurn chance after chance, they did not try to walk the ball into the net, and they weren’t playing pretty passing around the area. |

Arsenal v Middlesbrough, (5:15pm) Arsenal don’t do defeats, but if they did it would probably be to a crap team like Middlesbrough? Boro are once again looking to cement a top 17 finish. Prediction 1-0 |
