As a great philosopher once said, ‘It’s my life take it or leave it’. Keegan revealed it was Doctor Alban who inspired him to give it one more go. Two games in, no wins, no goals but plenty of love. Unfortunately love doesn’t win you trophies. Speaking of winning trophies, Arsenal seriously need to win one themselves this season, a welcome 3 points should further their cause.

Prediction 2-0

Theo Walcott is reportedly available for a loan move to another premiership club. The same Theo Walcott that Arsene Wenger spent £5m (rising to £12m) on just 2 years ago. The same Theo Walcott who was the surprise inclusion in Sven Goran Eriksson’s World Cup squad in 2006. The same Theo Walcott who was tipped as the future of England. A pretty spectacular fall, although it’s probably unfair to call it such a thing, as he is still only 18 years old. This hasn’t stopped the newspapers and journalists from writing off his fledging career already. The same journalists who had hailed him as the messiah and saviour for Eriksson’s pedestrian England team.

I don’t want to sit here and bang on about how great Tottenham were and how Arsenal were beaten soundly by the better team. I also don’t want to drone on about the fact that they had Hleb, Gallas and Sagna on for the whole game, Fabregas on for three quarters of it, Eduardo and Adebayor on for a third of it (when Spurs had taken off Keane, Berbatov and Lennon) and the fact that, bar Traore and Fabianski, all of the players have premier league experience and therefore there was no 2nd string out on Tuesday night and no excuse for being completely annihilated.

Oi oi ! Dexy’s back one more time for my Championship predictions. This one is tighter than UKFF’s payment scheme and it could be anyone’s this year which will make for one of the most exciting and passionate for years. Here’s a quick rundown of who i think will be the top 6 in early May in reverse order.

But i’m here in Africa safe and sound and have been getting the low-down on this entire African Nations lark. At their first press conference, Tom Hicks and George Gillett came across as a pair of bumbling idiots, cut from the same cloth as George W Bush. “If Rafa said he wanted to buy Snoogy Doogy we would back him” stated Gillett. Brilliant. Either Gillett is a comic genius, light years ahead of the rest of the population or he’s a complete buffoon. Ladies and gents, Dexy’s back with the 3rd instalment of my league
predictions for this season. I reckon it will be this 3 for promotion, stand
by me….. here’s the rundown.

There are more than a few old adages in football – ‘number twos don’t make good number ones’, ‘it only takes a second to score a goal’, ‘never employ David Pleat’ and so on, but one that has particular resonance right now is the ever popular ‘Never Go Back’.

Kevin Keegan clearly doesn’t heed such adages, as today he has agreed to return to St James’ Park, the scene of his greatest days as a manager. I am today also about to ignore the same adage, as I am going back to the bookies, to bet on Newcastle being relegated.
